The D-Major Singers
Saturday, November 1st - Ballads in the Woods - This unique fundraiser features a hearty tavern-style buffet. Funds raised from this event benefit the ongoing restoration of the building at the Bayshore Waterfront Park as well as other Friends projects.

During the fundraiser, the D-Major Singers entertain guests with ballads from the 1600s and the 1700s. These songs of love, farming, lust, murder, humor, and the supernatural were part of the heritage that colonists from the British Isles brought to America.

The ballads offer a glimpse into their everyday lives, traditions, and beliefs. Although many of these songs were lost because so few were written down, some very good ones have survived. Check out images from 2007.
